Experienced professionals are being skipped, not surpassed

Research on midcareer and older workers shows hiring managers are far more likely to consider younger candidates for AI-related roles — not because experienced professionals cannot learn the tools, but because almost nobody builds the training for them. That is a gap in the market, not a gap in you. Knowing what good work looks like takes decades; learning to point AI at a task takes practice.
