What the research says

“Deloitte discovered that the firm's people spent 2 million hours a year on "completing the forms, holding the meetings, and creating the ratings" and the majority of the time was taken up by "leaders' discussions behind ”

Yes, AI helps with reviews — inside guardrails

When large firms have audited their review processes, the finding is always the same: forms, meetings, and ratings consume a staggering amount of manager time every cycle. AI genuinely helps — it turns scattered notes into clean first drafts, keeps structure consistent across a team, and surfaces patterns you missed. What it cannot do is know your people or own the judgment. That stays with you, which is why the real skill is using AI without outsourcing fairness to it.

How Unscary approaches review season

Unscary grew out of B43's in-person AI training for companies, where managers learn fastest on their real tasks. So the practice looks like your actual job: turning rough notes into a fair, specific draft, tightening tone, and checking AI-drafted feedback for accuracy before it reaches a person's file. Plain language throughout — no prompt-engineering mystique.

How it works in the app

Short lessons sized for a manager's day, hands-on reps built on realistic review scenarios, and points and streaks that keep practice going between cycles. A personal progress report shows your drafting speed and review instincts improving. The app is pre-launch on iOS — the waitlist is how you get in before review season returns.
