The Unscary AI “Your path” screen. It mirrors the member's goal back as “You want to catch up and stop feeling behind,” then shows the four-rung climb, Automate, Standardize, Try and Recognize, with a “You're here” marker on Try.

Why this keeps failing

If you are one of the nonprofit program managers, you already know the friction: grant and program writing eats evenings. Long courses and one-off workshops rarely stick once the workday starts again. Gallup finds nearly half of U.S. workers (49%) report that they never use AI in their role, so the gap is not curiosity — it is a missing practice habit.

What the research shows

SHRM finds more than half of workers (51%) identified enhanced training as the top priority for improving AI outcomes. SHRM also finds 62% of workers do not know how to integrate AI into day-to-day workflows, and 59% do not have enough time to participate in training. The need is clear: short, role-relevant practice that fits real calendars.

A builder step in the Unscary AI app. The exercise reads “Now add the part that was missing,” showing a mock chat with a support-reply request and an empty Context slot, and a field below where the member writes the context to add.

How Unscary helps

Unscary is an iOS app by B43 with short lessons and hands-on reps that build practical AI skills, plus points, streaks, and a personal progress report. It productizes B43's in-person AI training for companies into phone-sized practice. For nonprofit program managers, that means practical AI reps sized for lean teams — without jargon and without waiting for another workshop.
